The visionary behind Caparros Shoes is Anavel Caparros, one of the great fashion success stories and an industry icon.

Anavel was born in Puerto Rico and is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, where she majored in philosophy. She honed her design chops in Alicante, Spain, one of the most beautiful provinces on Spain’s eastern coast - and an incubator for footwear design talent. After eighteen years working overseas in Spain and Asia for major shoe brands she was inspired to create Caparros Shoes in 1988.

Not long after she started Caparros Shoes, Anavel was named ‘Woman of The Year’ by Footwear News (the leading industry magazine) for helping to, “revive the West Coast footwear industry with her innovative designs and strong business savvy.”

She absolutely loves shoe design and the shoe business. Anavel also travels the world constantly, soaking up trends and design inspiration (of course, being a licensed pilot helps). Anavel’s mission is to help women define their personal style – and to make their special occasions just right.

“I was determined to help women realize their desire to look fabulous, alluring, and luxurious, without spending everything they have,” says Anavel.
